Protesters block DeVos from entering DC school

DeVos eventually made it into Jefferson Academy, a predominately African-American middle school, by another entrance, and met with students and staff.

Protesters on Friday blocked new Education Secretary Betsy DeVos at a Washington, DC, schoolhouse door - a new low in left-wing "activism".

Making her way back to her SUV to leave the scene, DeVos was followed by one angry protestor in particular who shouted "Go back!"

The newly confirmed United States education secretary Betsy DeVos - who wants guns to be allowed in schools for protection from grizzly bears - has officially seen, firsthand, the strong public opposition to her new gig. Police said they arrested one man for assaulting a police officer. The police broke up the line, carrying away one person who'd clung to the grille of the vehicle. Her strategy was foiled instantly, however, as protesters laid out to block her from proceeding up the stairs, forcing her to retreat back to her vehicle.

She then tried and failed to reassure passengers by saying: "Don't worry". "Being a pilot is a tough and stressful job". - United Airlines is apologizing after a pilot was removed from a flight to San Francisco after going on a weird rant.

"This nomination is an insult to school children and their families, to teachers and principals, and to communities fighting to improve their public schools", Bennet said in a statement. "We do not have the right of selecting students".

The Department of Education was created by then-president Jimmy Carter to fulfill a campaign promise to the country's largest labor union, the National Education Association.

Representatives said they wanted DeVos to know that the union supports free public schools and equal opportunities for all children. "And we do not want any of our schools to become experiments of privatization schemes".

DeVos reportedly arrived at the Jefferson Middle School in southwest DC around 10 a.m. Friday, where the protesters were onsite waiting for her.

The match was broken up by lots of turnovers. "We lost players but we regrouped pretty well". So when we didn't stick to our game plan, it didn't go our way.

After being physically blocked from getting inside, she turned away and left after being angrily confronted by a protester holding a "Black Lives Matter" sign. "Students are here to learn and aren't props".

It makes us wonder how long it will be before a DeVos visit to a school or university-pretty routine for education secretaries-is no longer a high-profile, divisive event.

She ignored a local reporter who asked what she thought of the protesters.

We will update this post with the latest trade rumors and deals involving the Blazers ahead of the February 23 trade deadline. This move is surprising because the Trailblazers are downgrading at the center position by exchanging Plumlee for Nurkic.
